From 1Password on iCloud to Bitwarden on OpenBSD

I’ve been using 1Password as a password manager for quite so time. The database was on my iCloud account so I could only use it with MacOS and iOS. But it was Free. Now that AgileBits Inc switched to subscription-based, I can’t really upgrade my apps… Time to look for something else. Strongbox + KeePass seemed nice. But I found issues when accessing the same DB from mobile and laptop. Another option is Bitwarden. It’s Open Source, available on many platforms and clients… and it can be hosted on OpenBSD using Rubywarden.

Monitoring the Linky electricity meter

Linky is a “smart electricity meter” from the French power grid operator Enedis. One nice thing about this device is that it automatically reports your electricty consumption. By polling the operator’s portal, one can fetch back its own data. And if the data are then stored in InfluxDB, one can keep a pretty look on its power consumption.

(sys)Upgrade encrypted OpenBSD 6.5 to 6.6 on Vultr hosting

I run an OpenBSD instance with encrypted root on Vultr VPS since v6.2. It has never been reinstalled. I only used the OpenBSD native upgrade methods. Using 6.5, I used sysupgrade(8). And it went as smooth as expected.
